William D. Novelli
Novelli advocates for people over 50 as executive director and
CEO of AARP. Before joining AARP, he was director of advertising
for the Peace Corps and spearheaded its efforts to recruit older
Americans. Later he was executive vice president of CARE, the
world’s largest private relief and development organization.
Just before coming to AARP, he was president of Tobacco Free
Kids, where his goal was to stop tobacco companies from marketing
to children. In between his work in the nonprofit and public
sector, he founded PR giant Porter Novelli, which specializes
in serving the social and health issues marketing needs of nonprofit
and government clients.
