Honorable Billy Tauzin

Tauzin provides consumers with lifesaving drugs as president and CEO of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. He learned what people need during a long public service career, which began in the Louisiana State Legislature and led to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he held several leadership positions and promoted bipartisan cooperation on Capitol Hill. As chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, he supported the Medicare prescription drug bill and defeated Medicare legislation requiring a 20 percent co-payment for home health care. A bout with cancer convinced him to leave Congress in 2004 and take his current position so he could continue to improve lives everywhere.
